PRESS RELEASE

UK actor, comedian, writer, Matt King will join Australian production company CJZ on Monday 5th May as ‘Development Executive’, working with the internal production and development team along with their external creative partners.

Matt King is well know to Australian audiences for his cult character Super Hans from the Channel 4 hit comedy ‘Peep Show’ and his lead dramatic role opposite Claudia Karvan in ‘Spirited’ which won him an ASTRA in 2011 for Most Outstanding Performance by an actor.  Prior to moving his family out to Australia from London last month he completed filming with David Heyman (producer of the Harry Potter films & academy award winner Gravity) on the film  ‘Paddington Bear’ with Nicole Kidman and Jim Broadbent.  Matt’s acting credits are impressive but it’s his ideas and writing skills which have secured him a job with CJZ.

CJZ Managing Director & co-founder Nick Murray, worked with Matt back in the 90’s when he was working and living in Australia as a comedy writer for various TV productions. Nick recognised his talent back then and has watched and admired the work he has produced in UK since.

“It’s great to be working with Matt again. His skills on both sides of the camera will bring a unique perspective to our creative team and he will play a key role in our development and production projects. There are exciting times ahead in local production and real opportunities in Australian UK co-productions.” Nick Murray

CJZ specialises in creating original formats, so expanding their development team with the best in the business will ensure they continue to produce the high quality of  – factual, factual entertainment, drama, comedy & light entertainment for both the local and international market place.

“I’m passionate about creating original ideas and have been very fortunate to have written, produced and performed in several successful TV and film projects over the past 15 years. I have also worked with some hugely creative people and credit those people who encouraged me when I was first starting out. Nick Murray was one of these people, so to have the opportunity to work alongside him and the team at CJZ is incredibly exciting. I look forward to developing new projects for both the local and international markets at a time when I feel Australian television is entering an exciting new era.” Matt King
