Kai – A documentary discovering the traditional foods which nourished Maori for centuries………Featuring methods of preparation and preservation which are in danger of being lost in these days of McDonalds and microwaves. The viewer discovers the importance of food to a tribe’s mana (respect/standing).

We see how traditional food sources have been affected by Department of Conservation restrictions, pollution, and loss of native bush. We see the making of bird snares and spears and go on a moonlit eel-spearing trip.
