Do You Believe in the Paranormal?
Take a journey with reporter Dan Henry into the world of the paranormal then decide for yourself if you believe, or not!
Dan visits and puts to the test mediums and channellers who claim to be able to communicate with the dead, he looks at the predictive powers of palmistry, astrology and tarot cards, visits New Zealand’s only school for developing psychic powers and he talks to the skeptics who de-bunk the notion of paranormal activity. Forty percent of New Zealanders believe that psychics can tell the future.
Throughout the documentary “Do You Believe in the Paranormal” the skeptics have their say. Skeptic Society’s Professor Denis Dutton is a philosopher at the School of Fine Arts: University of Canterbury and Vicky Hyde a former editor of NZ Science Monthly also a Skeptic Society member, give their opinions.
Dan investigates psychometry. It’s the ability to tell things about a person by holding their personal possessions. Judy Sellin is a professional psychic whose speciality is psychometry. We devised a test to see just how good Judy was. Judy had never met our presenter Dan Henry. We sent her two personal items of Dan’s, a key ring he has owned for about fifteen years and a ring he’s worn for about five years. From holding these items Judy says she knows things about the owners. See what Judy has to say!
