Welcome to the world of bodybuilding, a world of pain and sacrifice, a world of extremes, a world where big is beautiful.
What does it take to be a bodybuilder, and can you too have a body like this. Each year in gyms around the country, hundreds of hopefuls begin training to achieve a goal, to compete at the National Bodybuilding Championships. Only about 20% will last the distance.
Keri has been bodybuilding for three years. Last year she won her novice class. At a 110 kgs Michael is also a New Zealand champion, but he wasn’t always this big. Six years ago he weighed just 80 kgs. But building muscle and transforming the body into one like Michael’s or Kiri’s is not something that happens overnight.
Typically at first a bodybuilder will look like our three novice bodybuilders that are followed in this documentary – Tim, Catherine and Michael plan to compete at the regional competitions in 3 months time where they hope to be selected for the Nationals. They have no idea how hard those next three months will be and their lives are about to change.
Come behind the scenes into the private lives of Bodybuilders.
