“Too Big” follows a year in the life of two of New Zealand’s biggest women. We share their desperate quest to shed the flesh that has put them on death’s door and see how they inspire others.
Miranda Gray-Taufa and Sharon Bishop became instant celebrities after appearing in the documentary Big. At nearly 260 kilos each, they could no longer cook, dress, wash or toilet themselves. Even taking a few steps took excruciating effort. Their plight deeply touched viewers and there was an enormous demand for a follow-up to see if they managed to lose weight and save their lives.
Since the filming of Big, Miranda’s stomach has gone black and she is at risk of gangrene. We follow Miranda’s dramatic journey as she wins her battle to lose weight, starts a diploma in social welfare, cuts a cd, and power walks her way to new life.
We join Sharon who is now fighting to improve the lives of other obese people by petitioning to have obesity recognized as a disability.
We see how Miranda and Sharon’s new celebrity status has changed their lives.
Too Big is an inspirational documentary that gives a frank and honest insight into the daily plight of obese people.
