Take equal portions of action, adventure and high drama, mix enthusiastically with a diverse and dynamic family of characters and you have the makings of great television.
This fly-in–the–sky reality series, Choppers has all of these ingredients and more.
Following the adventures of the Westpac Trust Rescue Helicopter Team, Choppers offers us a ‘never seen before’ peek into the day-to-day lives of these real life heroes.
Experienced, highly skilled and gutsy, a typical day for the team can be filled with life or death decisions, daring air rescues, triumph and tragedy. Despite this, these men manage to remain centred and down to earth, as their stories unfold it’s impossible not to be drawn in by their self-effacing humour, dedication and compassion.
Choppers also gives us insight into the day to day comings and goings of one of New Zealand’s busiest Heliports, Mechanic’s Bay.
The Westpac Trust team shares the Heliport with the police Helicopter Eagle and Hellion, a commercial charter company.
Helilink is responsible for much of the activity down at the Bay. Hardly a day passes when the Helilink pilots aren’t whisking passengers off on fishing trips and sight seeing tours or airlifting people, pets and provisions to the remote outer islands of Auckland’s beautiful Waitemata Harbour. Two series produced.
