Dog Squad is back for a 12th season, continuing the canine capers, and capitalising on the public’s love of watching working dogs – and their ever-trusting handlers – as they go about their daily duties protecting the country, we call home.
Aside from the regular heroes holding the line with New Zealand Police, Customs and Biosecurity agencies, Dog Squad has broadened its brief this time to feature a whole new suite of clever dogs.
From tiny terriers that track down vermin trying to board boats to colonise pest-free islands – to a Blue Heeler / Spaniel combo who search for aggressively spreading Argentine ant nests, these guys are designed by nature and trained for hundreds of hours to excel in their fields.
Believe it or not, there are even dogs that can actually sniff out the notorious pathogen causing Kauri dieback in New Zealand’s northern forests – and Dog Squad travels to their remote bush training facility to see how they do it.
In addition to Dog Squad being released on TVNZ1 and OnDemand, for fans wanting more information and fantastic photos of these dedicated canines, there is the @dogsquadnz Facebook page and @nzdogsquad Instagram account with regular updates on the Dog Squad stars who feature in each week’s episode.
It’s noses down and tails up for the 12th season of Dog Squad – fun, fascinating, furry – and phenomenally good television.
