Welcome to the world of amateur theatre. With tight budgets and even tighter tights, it’s where chefs and farmers by day, become directors and divas by night.

In this exciting and fun series, two theatres take the spotlight, one big city, the other small town. We follow their dramas on-stage and off, in the two month countdown to opening night. From the agony of auditions through to opening night nerves, we go backstage and share in the melodramas and mishaps, tantrums and triumphs of these ‘everyday’ New Zealanders and their love for the ‘magic’ of theatre.

All will be revealed when the curtains and lights come up … it’s Showtime!
